Incognito - Tales from the beachFrom the Artist
The album title is a reference to “Bluey” Maunick’s musical evolution since his childhood on the small island of Mauritius (off the coast of Madagascar). “When I was a kid, my first taste of music came from the beaches of Mauritius,” he says. “I spent a lot of time listening to the hotel bands, or the bands playing around the bonfires and cookouts. It’s a small island, so there were beaches everywhere. I was always watching live musicians play. So for inspiration for this album, I went back to various beaches around the world - in Italy, Indonesia and elsewhere - and just let the music flow.”

Product Description
2008 album from the Acid Jazz favorites. Tales From The Beach, recorded in Italy, Germany, Indonesia, London, and mixed in Jakarta, is an album of 15 refreshing and uplifting songs. Each of the tracks are beautifully crafted; with guest vocals from Maysa Leak (I’ve Been Waiting’) and Tony Momrelle, who turns in a stunning vocal on ‘When The Sun Comes Down’. Other highlights including the four-to-the-floor stomper, ‘Step Aside’ and ‘N.O.T.’, an Acid Jazz-flavored track with horns reminiscent of the Average White Band

RESTAURANT PICK OF THE WEEK: SEATTLES OWN “TAVOLÁTA”

TACOLATATavolata is the latest buzz from Seattle’s creator of Union and heralded by Seattle Magazine as one of Seattle’s best restaurants hands-down.  An intimate space with excellent small plates in Belltown - Tavolata is a great place to try.  It’s billed as Italian, but the menu runs the gamut.  The steak was to die for and the small English pea soup was great. TAVOLATA The wine list is extensive, with excellent choices from Europe and Washington wineries.   Reservations often needed - it’s a popular place near a variety of great nightclubs.  2323 2nd Avenue - Seattle 206-838-8008

Great Pick: 2005 Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild Pauillac

2005 Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild Pauillac$79.99 per bottle

Medium ruby. Superripe aromas and flavors of blueberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice, menthol and Asian spices. Big, chocolatey and rich; much broader and more backward than the Carruades I tasted next to it but without that wine’s perfume and light touch. Finishes chewy and youthfully medicinal, with a classic dryness and substantial tannins that call for seven or eight years of cellaring.
